DEAD MAN'S CELL PHONE

  • July 26th 2008
    Saturday, 10:00 AM

Event Detail
Jean starts answering Gordon’s phone because he’s, well, dead, and can’t answer it himself. When the phone won’t stop ringing, and she can’t stop answering, Jean is forced to examine her own connections. An insightful, fantastic journey from “one of the leading contemporary American playwrights” (Chicago Tribune).

Sarah Ruhl gained widespread recognition for her play The Clean House, which won the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 2004 and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2005. She also won the 2006 MacArthur Fellowship for "creating vivid and adventurous theatrical works that poignantly juxtapose the mundane aspects of daily life with mythic themes of love and war." Other plays include Eurydice and Passion Play.

"Ruhl tackles big ideas with a voice that entertains" -National Public Radio

The role of Mrs. Gottlieb will be played by ensemble member Molly Regan from March 27 to June 1 and by Marilyn Dodds Frank June 3 through July 27.

Stay after the performance for a post show discussion with Steppenwolf artists or watch a video from the production, sponsored by AT&T.
