Ari Seder
graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in May 2001 with a
Bachelor of Music degree in jazz performance. At Oberlin, Ari studied
guitar with Bob Ferrazza, and has also studied with Chicago guitarists
Bobby Broom and Michael Allemana. A native of the Washington, D.C.
area, Ari moved to Chicago in the summer of 2001 to take advantage of
the city’s vibrant jazz scene. Since moving to Chicago, Ari has
performed with legendary tenor saxophonist Von Freeman, Hinda Hoffman,
David Young, Taku Akiyama, Corey Wilkes, Greg Ward, and many others. He
has also performed extensively as a leader with his own trio, which
focuses on playing his original compositions. Ari has also taught
guitar in the Chicago area for 5 years.
In 2006 Ari released his second CD, Ari Seder Organ Trio
which features original compositions in the classic organ trio format.
The CD showcases 11 compositions written over a 3-year period
chronicling Ari's life and musical experiences in the Windy City. The
material ranges from ballads to back-beats to driving swing, with
lyrical and accessible compositions as the common thread.
