The Last Days of Judas Iscariot Judas Iscariot...Heaven or Hell...You Have to Make a Choice The Gift Theatre Company By Stephen Adly Guirgis Directed by Kevin Christopher Fox The Jeff Recommended production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot moves from The Gift Theatre to the Victory Gardens Greenhouse Mainstage in June. In Stephen Adly Guirgis’ provocative, wild and brilliant play on Catholicism, Jesus’ infamous betrayer stands trial in Hope, a small section of Purgatory, where Satan, Mother Teresa and Sigmund Freud are among the many characters who take the stand. This production welcomes Kevin Christopher Fox back to The Gift who takes the director’s chair this time around after appearing onstage in last season’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane. In addition, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is also an onstage reunion for artistic director Michael Patrick Thornton (“Judas”) with The Gift ensemble, with whom he has not appeared onstage since The Gift’s inaugural production of Boys’ Life six years ago. The role of Jesus is played by Syler Thomas, Youth Ministries Pastor for Christ Church Lake Forest |
