Since our galleries closed in December 2005, the Chicago Historical Society has been transforming into an even more dynamic, interactive, accessible and inspiring destination for all Chicagoans and visitors to the city. As our interior walls come down, a new museum is emerging. Today, we are truly at a crossroads — where new exhibitions and public programs will profoundly shape visitors' sense of the past, present and future. With our 150th anniversary approaching, it is time for a clear vision of what the Museum stands for and where we are going. For everyone who lives in or visits Chicago, and is curious about the city's past, present and future, we want the Chicago History Museum to be their stop. People need a place where they can experience history's lessons first hand. For all Chicagoans and visitors to our city, the Museum is that place.

Composed of many layers of the word "history," our new Chicago History Museum brand is a visual expression of who we are today and tomorrow — passionate custodians of history; enriching personal memories through the power of telling and interpreting stories — over and over again. Just as history has shaped Chicago, so too will history continually shape the Chicago History Museum to be an even more vibrant meeting place for individuals and diverse communities to experience the past, contextualize the present, and shape the future.
