Chicago Center for Performing Arts   

The Chicago Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA), located on the Southwest corner of Chicago Avenue and Halsted Street, is a multi-venue entertainment complex that resides in a four-building development that was built in 1906, and served as a factory until Montgomery Ward began using it as a catalog fulfillment center and warehouse. After an extensive rehab project, it was transformed into the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts in December of 2000. Since then, CCPA has presented numerous theatrical productions, including My Fair Lady, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Miracle on 34th Street, The Blues Brothers Revival, Singin’ in the Rain, Respect, and many, many more. Chicago’s long running improv troupe, Comedy Sportz, has been performing at CCPA for the past year.

CCPA has also played host to numerous film & television productions including American Idol, Elimidate, Project Greenlight, Fame, and many more. Feature Films include Stranger Than Fiction, The Weatherman, Lakehouse, and the upcoming The Express, the life story of Ernie Davis, the first African American football player to win the Heisman Trophy, and whose NFL career was cut short by leukemia.

CCPA currently has three performance venues, the “Green Street Theater”, a luxuriously-warm 330-seat venue and one of the city’s most intimate spaces; the “WestTown Studio Theater”, where all 143 seats are considered “best in the house,” and “Sevens Cabaret,” a 100-seat venue, which features improv, standup, and music. CCPA’s other amenities include two elegant art-deco lobby bars, as well as meeting, production, and rehearsal space.
